Here in the Pacific Northwest, spring has sprung. There are tulip and daffodil tips up all over, and the crocus are just beautiful! Soon it will be time for the Skagit valley Tulip Festival… an annual collective orgasm of beauty, in our spectacular corner of the world.
Last week, while out for a walk with a friend, I photographed a clump of crocus, lit by the sun, and especially gorgeous. As I leaned down, with my iPhone (I’ve gotten so lazy about taking my Nikon along!), there was a bee in the center of one of the flowers. When I zoomed in and cropped this photo, it captured perfectly the intoxication that bee probably felt… totally immersed in a pollen bath, and a celebration of spring! I could spend hours watching bees collect pollen. It’s always a pure dose of happy.
Beautiful!

Thanks so much Lillian! Coming from YOU, that’s a real compliment! You know I love your photography! We have green grass and plants all year round, but man, it’s so nice when the spring flowers come up! 😀

Oh dear…I hope Spring springs a little harder, cuz it’s still too cold and rainy for me.
And if it doesn’t get warmer soon, my belly won’t fit under my winter jackets, and I ain’t buying more.

Oooh! IF your belly is getting that big, it’s about time for me to drive to Pland! The rain and gray can really get to some people. I was fine for the first 8 years or so, and now it bugs me a little more. But the spring flowers take the edge off! Hang in there, our winter is nearly over. 😉

Well, it’s not that big yet, but it will be of course. Hopefully I’ll get more used to the weather up here.

It’s an adjustment. It took me a while, when I first moved her. Summers are heaven! That will help. 😉

You are so welcome! We get very little snow. In fact, it’s green all year here. But, the spring flowers are always a highlight for me!

Spring in the Northwest – my favorite time of year in my favorite place on the planet. First, the crocuses, then the camellias. Then daffodils, azaleas, tulips and rhododendrons exploding in a sequence of color and fragrance as the entire countryside prepares to blossom. Your vivid photo makes me miss it anew. – Mike

Me too, Cathy! Love spring flowers, but I could sit and watch bees for hours. In the summer, when they are just swarming on my catmint, Ahhh.. Heaven!

I love these early bulbs. What beautiful photos you captured! I always look forward to the Tulip Festival blooms. I’m only 30 or so minutes away from the fields and get over there at least a few times during the festival. In just a few weeks the cheery daffodils will be smiling away.

There are few things more spectacular than the Skagit fields in spring! Sometimes, I just shoot down there to drive by the fields, last minute… just to get a dose of spectacular! 😀

That’s a superb shot from a phone camera! I am so envious of your weather. We are dropping 50 degrees today into the 20s. (I thought this was the quasi-south?) Anyway, I will linger a bit longer over the picture of your crocus and long for spring to turn up here in DC. All the best.
