 Smokin’, Babe (98 words)

“Seriously Gerry! You’ve gotta stop eating that shit!”

“Don’t make me choose, baby; I love the stuff.”

“You may love it, but I hate it! Look at my lips!”

“What’s the problem? I thought chicks were paying big bucks for pouty lips?” Gerry swatted Dee’s ass and grinned.

“You’re not funny! If I wanted duck lips I’d pay for them.”

“You mean, I’d pay for them…” He smirked again.

“Jesus! I hope you have heartburn; you deserve it smart ass.”

“Take it easy darlin’. I love my Sriracha, and I love kissing your puffy– err, luscious lips– Quack-quack!”

That was great for a laugh. I used to love spicy food — it doesn’t love me so much anymore. If it does that to your lips, what’s it doing to your insides.

    • No doubt! It’s funny (not) how foods change their status as we age! So many things I once loved, now make me miserable! There are some interesting things out there about food you eat and how it effects your lover… I went with the clean version, darlin’. 😉 Thanks for taking the time Ms Hann-Basquiat. It is always an honor.

Funny, Dawn! I can’t handle the spicy myself. I love the line, Don’t make me choose. Guess what?! I will be in San Jose this weekend for my son’s water polo tournament. Maybe we could meet?!! I don’t know my son’s schedule yet, but I will in town from Fri – Tuesday! How cool is this?!!! I will message you.

That guy’s ass is going to be on the floor!
So what’s BlogHer 2014? Is that like a chick thing?

    Like

    • Hey Ted; good to see you here! Something tells me Gerry’s got the upper hand here… but, his ass should be on the floor!

BlogHer is THE biggest blogging convention in the world. It started our for women, but men attend now too. However, there will be about 3,000 plus women bloggers and much fewer men. This year is the 10th anniversary, and I set my sights on going, a long time ago! I didn’t realize it would come back to back with all this travel I’ve been doing… but as I head out to the sparkly pool, that doesn’t seem like such a hardship right now. 😉

Gerry isn’t very respectful. But it seems that’s just me. I’m not much for people forcing food on me that I don’t like. 🙂 That’s my ex-husband’s fault. Great dialogue though. It really gets their character across.
    Have a blast at BlogHer!

    • Melanie, thanks for stopping by TFTM. I appreciate you taking the time to read my story and comment.

No, Gerry isn’t exactly respectful, but then I think that’s just part of his “charm.” As for forcing anyone to eat… it isn’t the eating that’s a problem, it’s kissing Dee with Sriracha on his lips! 😉

  10. Welcome home…almost…Dawn. We’re back as well, me and my Sriracha lover. Not for me, but half our family likes heat and half doesn’t, so I get it.

  12. Dawn, Good story and well written as always. I can’t stand too much spice. Our daughter can eat spicy, but our son can’t. My husband doesn’t like spicy like he used to. People here eat chilies like french fries. I sit and pick out chilie pieces. Well done. Have fun at the convention. 🙂 —Susan

    Dear Dawn,

Have fun at the BlogHer event. I hope you and Amy can hook up.

Gerry should receive some hot sauce on his…oh, never mind…he’d probably like that, too. Loved this story.

  14. Dear Dawn,

Fourth line: Gerry swatTED her ass. Unless you’re writing in pidgin English. 😉 Aside from that, fun dialogue.

So does Gerry slather his lips with Sriracha before kissing Dee? Powerful hot sauce that. ;).

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

    • Thanks, Rochelle. I’ve corrected the “swatted,” good catch. As for Gerry’s kisses, I can just tell you this: if you’re sensitive to spice, it doesn’t take much! This story, however, is fiction– of course.
      Shabbat Shalom!
