This week, there is no fiction here; my brain can’t find refuge in photos, though I appreciate C.E. Ayr’s muse. I’ve only got a few more days in Israel, soaking up my 16 month old grandson’s yumminess, and then I fly home–– stopping in Washington, DC for the March on Washington, the day after inauguration. Life feels a bit surreal right now, but I’m inspired.

You Can’t Keep A Good Woman Down
As the clock ticks on, and the countdown to change marches forward, the knot in my stomach tightens–– a dull, constant anxiety pervades.
“Great again, great again!” The crowds yell, as they stomp their feet, and spray mace in the face of a young girl, who doesn’t buy their greatness.
But I know a bully when I see one. I can’t be railroaded by ugly, empty promises and a cocky grin.
Let the bands play on Friday.
You can’t keep a good woman down.
Come Saturday we’ll rise up, and March arm in arm, for a different kind of great.

We have a reputation in Boston, for being…well, a bit rough and tumble. So, that is humorous nod to my back ground. I’m scrappier than I look, but my bark is usually worse than my bite! Love that you noticed, and tickled that you asked. 😉

I once told one of my co-workers if he isn’t going to stop being a pill, my Kansas butt was going to drop a house on him. 😀

Kent, It is indeed! Funny to me how many people think otherwise, or worry about me when I’m here… and it’s been interesting to see Israeli’s reactions when I tell them I’m going to the March. They find THAT EXTREMELY dangerous. 🙂

Such a beautiful reflection. I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip. Washington is still a great place to visit with so much to see, and the U.S. is its people, not its political leaders. I’m personally trying to keep up the hope. TBH, I still have this feeling like, well, so much for American democracy. Trying so hard to be positive, but it is so hard right now.
