I meant to get my entry in right away this week, but two weeks past due, my daughter finally delivered a gorgeous, 7lb 6oz baby boy. Our hearts are full. I’m always thankful to Rochelle for her commitment to Friday Fictioneers, and grateful to the wonderful writing crowd who welcomed me back so kindly last week. As always, I welcome honest, constructive feedback. Please leave a comment.

Call Of The Wild
“Ruthie, where are you going? It’s dark out there.”
“I’ve got to go to the bathroom; I’ll be right back.”
“Again? You just went a half hour ago.” Jeff set his book down. “At least take a head lamp, there are critters out there.”
Unzipping the tent, Ruth grabbed the toilet paper and a flashlight.
“I swear, tomorrow I’m not drinking anything after six. I hate going out at night.”
“A hot drink definitely warms you when you’re camping, but then you gotta teapee!” Jeff guffawed as Ruth hid behind a sagebrush, sighing with relief.

LOL, Been there. Done that (and too old for that now, IMO … ;)).
Congratulations to you and your daughter and the little dude! How lovely! I wish you many snuggling and nuzzling and sighing-with-content hours that have nothing to do with needing to pee and everything to do with a little bundle of joy! Yay!

We are all very happy right now. I’m hoping to keep up with reading and responding, but we shall see! It’s been a big week, for sure! BTW: i’ve been there, done that too, more times than I can count!

Thanks Neal; it came to me right away. I thought maybe I’d write something more meaningful, but this just worked for now.

I know the feeling, and it is usually pouring down with rain. You tell it how it really is.

Thanks James! Yes, I always found that it was chilly, dark, and suddenly there were so many sounds around me… whenever I ventured out of my of my tent! Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.

Ha ha – now this really resonated as it reminded me of the last (and final!) time I camped.
p.s. congrats on the new grandson

Thanks Susan! I think anyone who’s camped knows this experience; it’s entirely unavoidable! 😉 I haven’t been since I blew out my knee on a 3 day backpacking trip… getting out of the woods was one of the hardest, most painful things ever! Last camping trip… so far. I would love to take my grandsons one day. 🙂

Funny but I would be in the same position. I swear my bladder is the size of a pea. Ha Ha Ha … I think I added a joke. I’ve never camped in a tent but remember my girls camp out in our backyard. There were many, many bathroom runs.
Congratulations 🎈🎉🎊 on your grandsons birth. May you all enjoy the blessings of many years of joy and happiness.

Thanks so much Isadora! Admittedly, I don’t appreciate roughing it, like I used to! And thanks for the blessings; we are feeling pretty good right now!

Ha… this happens all the time… the more uncomfortable the bigger the need… (one of those laws of Murphy I think)

That damned Murphy! I hate to blame it on my fellow Irishmen, but he does make things challenging!

🙂 I am sure I would be in and out of that tee pee to pee, but he would be standing guard.
